The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy is developed by Too Kyo Games and Media Vision, and is published by Aniplex. The game is available now on Steam and the Nintendo eShop for USD 59.99.

The game features the immediately recognizable Danganronpa-esque art style from illustrator Rui Komatsuzaki. It’s iconic and oozes personality.

The Hundred Line was released on April 24, and there’s also a free demo available.

The Hundred Line follows the story of Takumi Sumino, who is described as a ‘totally average teenager’ living in the Tokyo Residential Complex where ‘nothing bad ever happens’… until it does.

Freakish monsters begin attacking the town, which is when a strange creature calling himself ‘Sirei’ appears and offers Takumi the power to protect everyone he holds dear.

Takumi then finds himself in the Last Defense Academy, a school in the middle of nowhere surrounded by otherworldly flames. Takumi, along with 14 other students, who are now part of the Special Defense Unit, must protect the school over the next 100 days.

The Hundred Line reportedly has over 100 endings.

This game features a blend of visual novel gameplay and tactical role-playing combat. In this game, all of your decisions matter—inside and outside of combat.

Takumi’s choices will have consequences and directly impact the future. In between battles, there’s also plenty of extra gameplay.

You can talk with teammates, strengthening bonds. You’re also free to explore the school, as well as the wilderness and ruins surrounding the school. Any items you find can be used to craft gifts and become closer to your allies.

If you like visual novels, The Hundred Line is a must-play. If you’re on the fence about the game, there’s a free demo version available.

If you’re a huge fan of horror visual novels, we recommend checking out Cooking Companions. It recently launched on consoles, and there’s also a special, physical edition coming out.
