Meteoric—Sing In A Metal Band in Hosted Games Newest Title

Imagine this: You’ve been fired from your job, your car breaks down, and on the walk home, you nearly get hit by a meteor… The only upside? You discover a spirit possessing a skull-shaped microphone that wants to make you a rich, famous metal musician. That’s Meteoric.

Meteoric is the latest addition to the Hosted Games interactive fiction line-up. The game is a haunting (literally) and thrilling 125,000-word interactive horror novel by Samwise Harry Young.

Meteoric is (mostly) text-based, where your imagination is the graphics card.

In Samwise Harry Young’s chilling story, the spirit’s mysterious magic seems to prove effective in propelling your metal career forward until you come to a wall… Everything comes with a cost, and the cost for fame is blood.

Features from the game’s official listing include:

  • Play as male, female, or nonbinary; romance men, women, both, or no one at all.
  • Romance a charismatic bassist, a tough guitarist, a thoughtful guitarist, or a mysterious drummer.
  • Reap all the benefits the influence of a magical microphone can conjure, and suffer the consequences, or try to resist the temptation.
  • Read approximately 45k words per playthrough!

The game’s official website also features a content warning, which is available below.

Content Warning: Meteoric is a horror story that explores depression and poverty with death metal as the vehicle. It contains violence, alcohol and drug use, explicit language, and references to suicide, necrophilia, and cannibalism.

The first three chapters of the game are available for free on PC/Web, Android, and iOS. For the first week of release, the game is also on a 40% discount.

If you love horror-based text games, it’s also worth checking out the recently released Contra Spem Spero.
